B.A.D.

While shopping at a local store, a woman spotted a
man with an acronym on his T-shirt that just had the letters
B.A.D. printed across the front.

Being the curious person she was, she stopped the man
and asked, "What does B.A.D. stand for?"
She was amazed at what his response was.

He replied to let her know that B.A.D. stands for
"Blessed And Delivered".

After hearing this, the thought stuck with her as she finished doing her shopping that day. So she came up with a little advice to share. Note from Grandma: I also added to this including the last three points which I feel describes just how B.A.D. we are!

* When the enemy tries to attack you, be B.A.D.

* When things at work are stressful, be B.A.D.

* When you're feeling down, remember how B.A.D. you are!

* When you feel you can't go on, remember YOU ARE B.A.D.

* When your have a broken heart, remember
YOU ARE A CHILD OF GOD - YOU ARE B.A.D.

May God bless you and have a B.A.D. weekend!

I sing praises and glory to Your name, Oh Lord, for Your name is great, and greatly to be praised!

You have made known to me the path of life; You will fill me with joy in Your presence, with eternal pleasures at
Your right hand. Psalm 16:11

Our God is a God of Suddenlies!

In the morning, O Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation. Psalms 5:3

Think about this. Our God is a God of Suddenlies!

He can suddenly heal our bodies.
He can suddenly give you or your husband that promotion.
God can suddenly answer our long-awaited prayers.
Suddenly people were healed when Jesus touched them.
Suddenly Jesus will come in a moment in the twinkling of an eye.

When we keep our hearts open, expectant, and filled with faith, it gives God something to work with. In the same way Jesus turned the five loaves of bread and two fish into lunch for 5,000 men (Matthew 14:17), God can take our faith in Him and turn it into the answer to prayer we need!

The enemy's goal is to steal our hope as he tried to do to me earlier this week. He wants to get us down and discouraged so that we will give up and settle for less than God's best. Let's not be deceived by the enemy! No matter how many disappointments we've encountered, God can turn things around for each of us in a split second of time! One touch of His favor can suddenly restore relationships! One touch of His goodness can solve that problem we're facing today! Just one touch from Almighty God can instantly change our life!

A Prayer for Today
Heavenly Father, each day I come before You with my praises and my thanks, my joys, my concerns, and my requests - I will wait patiently and expectantly for Your answer, as I am filled with faith!

In the blessed name of Jesus I pray,
Amen!

Thankful Thursday

Dear Friends,

I almost decided not to post today for Thankful Thursday. Then I thought ... Why would I consider not posting as I have so much to be thankful for! I felt I had not been thinking clearly - like brain fog - so I had been taking additional quiet time which of course is a good thing - we all need more quiet time with God. But you know what I realized? It isn't brain fog I was experiencing. It was the enemy trying to steal my joy. We've all been there! The enemy doesn't want me, you, or anyone in this world to be thankful today or any other day. So today, let me just make this statement: The evil one doesn't win this time. PRAISE THE NAME OF JESUS!

I'M THANKFUL FOR
* The fact that the enemy WILL NOT steal my joy today!
* Every blog I've read this week which encouraged and lifted my spirits.
* God speaking to me through His word this week.
* More prayer and quiet time.
* A loving family and a husband who is so dear.
* For caring friends who email, send e-cards, or leave encouraging comments.
* Finding a Christian blogging community. While reading many blogs - I have been blessed time and time again! I praise God for helping me find each of you.

To find others sharing thankfulness this week, please visit Iris @ Sting My Heart.

So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive His mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it. Hebrews 4:16

Written by My Husband: Celebrating Life

Hello everyone,

My dear husband recently wrote to document a recent event in his life to give praise to God. I pray you enjoy reading as he shares today and hoping he'll share with us many more times. hint hint ;-)

CELEBRATING LIFE
I just recently received a marvelous blessing. I went to the doctor for a routine physical because my brother had heart by pass surgery and because there is a strong history of heart disease in my family, plus my wife encouraged me to go and get checked. I have always been healthy and denied that I could have any health issues. Well, after a stress test and an angiogram, I found out that one of my coronary arteries was 99% blocked. What could have turned out to be a massive heart attack only days away, was an intervention by God, just for me.

It just overwhelms me to reflect on how much God loves me. Jesus died on the cross for me and He rose again so I might have everlasting life. What amazing grace !

In John 11:25, Jesus said, "I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me shall live even if he dies, and everyone who lives and believes in Me shall never die".

I am so thankful for God’s grace and mercy and His promise in Jeremiah 29:11 came alive for me.

For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future".

For Heather ~ To God be the Glory

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened,
and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28

    Dear family and blogging friends,
Someone needs us. She needs our virtual hugs, our loving support, our positive thoughts, but most of all, she needs each of us to lift her up in our prayers. Her name is Heather, of Especially Heather, and she has recently been diagnosed with a brain tumor.

One of Heather's dear blogging friends, BooMama, is rallying all of us to pray and help Heather as the Lord leads us. Heather also has a daughter, Emma, who has serious health problems as well. You can click the For Heather button at the top of this post or in my side bar to learn more from BooMama ways in which Heather needs help.

    To God be the Glory!

NOTE: If you visit the blog of Especially Heather and receive an "exceeded bandwidth" notice, just keep checking back. It will be back up eventually. It only means that many people are stopping by her blog to show their support. Thank you!

    Thankful Thursday

Cast all your anxiety on him because He cares for you.
    1 Peter 5:7

I can never thank God enough for saving me, for forgiving my sins, and how He still loves me despite my weaknesses.

I'm thankful to Him for answered prayers, and even for the prayers which He hasn't answered yet -- as I know He is using this time to teach me to wait on Him.

I feel truly blessed and always thankful to God for my dear husband of almost 38 years because I know God chose him for me. He calls me from work to make sure I'm okay, and reminds me when I'm troubled over something to give it to God. I'm thankful my husband loves Jesus our Lord and Savior as much as I do.

How blessed and thankful I am for the phone ringing and hearing one of my granddaughters on the other end from almost 2,000 miles away. I love to listen to her as she happily shares with me about school, friends, grades, and how she can't wait until summer to visit us. I'm thankful my grandchildren all know Jesus as their savior.

I am thankful for Ronalfy.com - Life is a blog, who is, by his own title, an opinionated Christian writer. He is participating in Reader Appreciation Week April 9-13, 2007, and is sharing many blessings with his readers by giving away a few prizes. Guess what? I am thankful as I won a $50 Best Buy Gift Card. It is an answer to prayer as we had been praying about needing something from there, so here is our answer! Thanks again!

I'm thankful I felt God placed it on my heart to visit a new blog yesterday -- the blog of Lisa at The Preacher's Wife ... as He pointed me to the Bible Study Series Lisa is beginning this week. If you haven't yet visited Lisa's blog, please stop by and decide if you feel God leading you to the Bible Study Series as well.

Last but not least, I'm thankful to have found Thankful Thursday, to be able to join in and experience the thankfulness and blessings experienced by other believers. Come join us!

I sing praises to His name, for His name is great, and greatly to be praised!

May I ask you to please join us in prayer for my niece Jennifer and her family? She had their 2nd baby on Monday, a little girl she named Jizelle. This precious little baby girl is in the NIC unit having problems breathing and eating and is being tube fed. Please join us in prayer for little Jizelle to be healed and her family comforted by the love of Jesus.

In Loving Memory of Our Sweet Daughter

Children are God's best gift. Psalms 127:3

In remembrance of our sweet daughter, we would like to share a few pictures by way of the slide show above, as well as some of our loving memories in celebration of her life.

Our daughter was born in 1974 and passed away in April 2003 at the young age of 29 years old due. Her passing was due to complications of Type 1 insulin-dependent Juvenile Diabetes which she was diagnosed with at the age of 10. She remained healthy while growing up other than having diabetes. At the time of her passing, her twin girls were only 8 years old. She loved her little girls dearly and they love and miss their mommy so very much. They now live with their father in another state and we usually get to see them for 4 to 6 weeks during the summer, at Christmas, and sometimes on other occasions if it works out since they live almost 2,000 miles away. Moving away to another state was very hard on them for a long time as they lived in this state when their mommy passed away, plus their mother is buried here.

    MEMORIES
I remember the day I drove "B" to the first sonogram appointment as her husband couldn't be off work to go with her. The nurse doing the sonogram kept staring at the screen as if she couldn't believe what she was seeing. She then told "B" I see two babies, did you know you were having twins? "B" and I both quickly turned our heads and stared at each other in amazement, and then turned back to look at the screen. "B" quickly stated, no, the doctor never told me I was having twins. The nurse then said, well, you are definitely having twins! She then pointed to the screen and showed both of us the outline of the two babies. We were both so very happy and "B" told me no one would believe us, especially her husband. We left there ecstatic thinking of not one, but two babies! Her husband was really happy as was the rest of the family. Her pregnancy went very well. She was hospitalized for the last 3-4 weeks of her pregnancy to monitor her glucose levels and delivered her twins two weeks early. They each weighed exactly 5 lbs and 5 1/2 ounces. They have no health problems other than one having seasonal allergies and the other with seasonal allergies and asthma. It's amazing to watch them grow up, especially since her first gynecologist suggested she abort the pregnancy. She changed doctors and hospitals and received very good prenatal care.

"B" was an avid I Love Lucy fan and collector of I Love Lucy Show memorabilia; including several types and sizes of Lucy, Ricky, Ethel and Fred dolls, collector plates, purses, clocks, pictures, a lamp ... and well really, everything she could find and had the extra funds to purchase. Many of the items she obtained were given to her as gifts; others she found at places such as the Lucille Ball - Desi Arnaz Center in Jamestown, New York, eBay auctions, flea markets, garage sales, and from Cathy's Closet, an online Lucy store. She always wanted to attend one of the Lucy-Desi Festivals held yearly, however, her health was never strong enough to make the trip.

There were two additional collections "B" had started including Raggedy Ann and Andy and Campbell's Soup decor and dishware. She had totally decorated her entire kitchen in all things having to do with Campbell's Soup and absolutely loved her Campbell's Soup kitchen. It was totally cute! She didn't have near as much Campbell's or Raggedy Ann and Andy items as she did her I Love Lucy memorabilia. Our family always knew what to get her for birthdays, Christmas, or other special occasions. Her collections are being saved for her twin girls.

Our daughter also loved God and wanted to serve Him by working in the church nursery rocking babies while their parents attended services, and while her twin girls were in Sunday School class. She was faithful to this even showing up when her health was failing. As long as she felt strong enough to stand and to hold the babies, they could definitely count on her being there. They also called on her when others could not keep their commitment as she was such a reliable little worker.

If you have seen the movie Steel Magnolias which was released in 1989, it may help you to understand what happened to our dear daughter's little body after giving birth to her twin girls. It was much like "Shelby" went through in Steel Magnolias. In the movie, Shelby has Type 1 Diabetes, and her character is played by Julia Roberts. The character of her mother, M'Lynn, is played by Sally Field. The story involves not only Shelby's marriage which is a huge celebration, but the later struggles between Shelby and her mother who is totally against Shelby getting pregnant due to her own fears of her daughter's health deteriorating. Shelby continues to insist she will have a child when the time is right. It's a very beautiful and moving movie which brought me to tears even though "B" was not yet pregnant when the movie was released. The movie is still a favorite of mine even though it is even harder for me to watch now.

There are two additional blog posts I wrote earlier regarding our daughter; one on her birthday, January 13, 2007, entitled Daughter Happy Birthday in Heaven! Forever 29. I shared how we were able to handle our grief because of our strong faith, belief, and loving trust in our Savior, Jesus Christ. The second blog post on our daughter was written on February 12, 2007, and is titled Loss of our Child which shares more regarding "B's" passing, as well as including recommended grief books and grief resources for adults and children.

She is forever on our minds and in our hearts. Not a day goes by that I don't think of her. It was an emotionally painful time losing her, not only for us, but you can imagine what her girls went through losing "mommy". Please know ... we have a strong faith in God. It is GOD that got us through this painful time by picking each of us up out of the deep pit of our despair and loving us through our grief. My dear husband and I could never imagine dealing with the grief of losing anyone in our life without God filling that gaping hole within us. Our daughter's twin girls will be 13 this year and their faith and love for God is amazing. Each of us know WITHOUT ANY DOUBT WE WILL be with her again when we all get to Heaven.

Today on the four year anniversary of her passing, we sing praises to God for His love, peace, and comfort, as we celebrate our dear daughter's life with loving memories and a heart full of thankfulness to God for His faithfulness.

    Thankful Thursday

The grass withereth, the flower fadeth, but the word of our God, shall stand forever! Isaiah 40:8

  • I'm so thankful for our Lord Jesus Christ, and that He gave His life for each of us so that all who believe in Him, will not perish, but may have eternal life. He died for me, forgave and saved me from my sins, and He loves me unconditionally. God is so good!

  • My son lives in another state with his wonderful family and is career military. My DH and I are so proud and thankful for the loving Christian man of God he is and that his beautiful family worships God together. We share phone calls and e-mails and never hang up from conversations without saying "I love you".

  • I have three sisters I'm truly thankful for as they are such a blessing. Always checking on me, listening to me when I'm sad, making me laugh at crazy little things as only they can, and being there for me as I grieved the loss of my daughter. When I was in the hospital they all came for a visit even though they each live six hours away. They painted my nails, fixed my hair, kept me laughing, and were such a blessing to me I didn't want them to leave!

  • I praise and thank God for the beauty of His creations He gave us to enjoy while on this earth, with all the glorious colors of each season.

  • I want to express thankfulness to the owners of Mister Linky who created the wonderful Linky widgets many of us use in our blogs. The support person answered my e-mails and silly questions quickly and was ever so helpful to me in getting everything working properly. So here's a special SHOUT OUT and thank you to Mister Linky!

I look forward to reading your thankful posts today. Please note on Saturday, April 7 I will be sharing beautiful memories of my dear daughter who passed away four years ago this month. Please come back and share with me a celebration of her life. Many Blessings at Easter and always!
