Operation Christmas Child - Fill a Shoe Box
Have you filled your shoe box yet for Operation Christmas Child ? Small gifts, hair brushes or combs, toothbrushes and toothpaste, school supplies and other small items are filled in a shoe box and given to needy children through the Samaritan's Purse organization each year during the Christmas season. You can be a part of this, however, the deadline is almost here. The boxes are suppose to be taken by each of us as donors to the drop off locations between November 17 to November 24, 2008.
You can pack the Christmas gift box yourself by obtaining the information from the Samaritan's Purse Operation Christmas Child website. Follow the directions for filling your box, what to place inside, appropriate label for boy or girl, etc. The website takes you through each step of the way. Be sure to click on drop off locations and enter your zipcode to obtain the closest location to deliver your Christmas box after you have it ready.
If you want to help make a child's Christmas special this year but don't have time to fill a shoe box, you can also go to the Samaritan's Purse website and click on Make a Donation and choose "Operation Christmas Child" as the purpose of your donation. Volunteers at the organization will then fill a shoe box for you, and send it for a child during Christmas. By filling the box yourself and dropping it off, or making a donation and letting a volunteer of Samaritan's Purse fill a box for you, either way you will be making a difference to a needy child this year during the holiday season.
